the boston based alternative rock band buffalo tom formed in 1986. the band around singer/ guitarist bill janovitz became one of the more popular alternative rock bands by the mid 1990s. the 1992 album let me come over was truly the great leap forward for the band, sounding richer, more imaginative, and more emotionally powerful than anything they d recorded before.

and are a duo living in manchester, uk. they have released a split 12 inch with 16 bit on mindset in 2009, the second 12 inch on black sun records that came out recently and a couple of 12 inches on horizontal ground. they sent me various batches of tracks spanning a wide range of sounds, all rooted in techno to my ears but spanning different tempos, emphasis and mood. i selected three of those tracks to appear on this ep, ranging between 130 and 135 bpm. franksen & tom wax, two of the main characters of the frankfurt house scene releases there second bomb on amusedrecords. smoker is an realy hypnotic deep tech house track with some progressive house elements in it. cant control it on a2 is the most housy track on this ep. classical house elements like hi strings, vocals, analog cords meets a massive tech house groove. just like this on b1 is the most drum oriented track on this phatt ep. absolutly a massiv clubtrack that will rock your floor!

these are two of the best t. flynn tracks ive heard. budgie smuggler is a fresh club jam that sounds like deez nuts and keep listening is a red alert, 4 alarm big room only rocker.

>sooner or later< by tom clark and martin eyerer is a classy and solid club tune. both masterminds are offering their own >sooner or later< interpretation on this release. tom clarks mix shows a rough and full body, clear structures and is highly seductive. martin eyerers mix is softer with a touch of minimalistic retro-chic. as both interpretations enjoy the same musical introduction the personality of each stands out even stronger making it a treat to the listeners ears. the daniel dreier & dale remix is an intense opposite to the original versions a techno-esque and sparkly ear feast, while the adrian martin & klangwerk remix has a softer approach pairing addictive beats to an ecstasized bass line. all in all >sooner or later< is a 4 track release featuring 4 outstanding visions of the moment in-between sooner or later, a vision for each and every one of us.

sasha carassi is back on his phobiq imprint with the fiberboard ep!with synths sounding like liquid tension, the original mix is a journey through tough beats and frantic electronics. the mighty slam are in charge of the first remix and they take the dark and dirty route, stripping the original down and adding some bleakness of their own, only to surprise us with an old school-sounding breakdown. the acid mix is slightly more rolling, featuring snappy drums and pulsating percussion, which takes us to the fourth track of the ep closing up is tom laws, who has been making his own unmistakable noise as of late. utilizing simple,yet solid drums he offers us a clearer picture of the tense synths while maintaining the vibe of the original.

after several hot tunes on worthy’s anabatic imprint, birminghams tom flynn joins the ranks of the dirtybird crew. i ve battle tested the a-side of this record all around the world. >catch that bird< is a rare mix of deep rooted funk whilst also sounding like a caribbean jungle track pitched down to 126. my favorite!
i d play this ep just on the strength of the a-side but i feel like a lot of attention will also be given to the b-side called >rhode island<. this is a classic piece of deep house with all the melodic elements of a dirtybird jam.
tom sent me at least 7 tracks before i signed these so the guy is certainly prolific and i expect to hear quite a bit more from this up and comer this year.
